  Usually, I love Masque. Tonight, that all changed when me and and group of friends/chosen family were violently removed from the club because a woman verbally assaulted me as well as physically assaulted me. I was asked to leave with no explanation except the fact that the owner stated that I had to go. Now, as a highly educated person, this simply did not seem right especially when my job is to advocate for those who are often marginalized and denigrated by those with privilege. A friend came to my defense after I was physically picked up and escorted out simply for asking why are we were being kicked out when we did not initiate any interaction with the young woman or respond in any negative way. Three bystanders even told security that we were not at fault. Upon learning of this one of my friends was placed in a choke hold by a performer at the club after responding to me being picked up by the bouncer. They are in mental and physical disarray due to these incidences.
  
  I understand this is a safe and fun place for many people, but today ended those feelings for me and three other people. We will also share our experiences as to prevent any future events from happening that are similar. As someone who works diligently everyday to advocate and support those who are marginalized I am appalled by the behavior of the staff, namely the DJ, the performer, and the owner who refused to speak to us. Please be aware of bigoted people who frequent these spaces as well as owners who believe they are so important and above the "lay people" who attend that they don't have to speak with them.
